SUCH A LITTLE THING

Hold it Up — For All to See

Hope.

It’s such a little thing to carry. Four letters. Not much to it, yet, so necessary and powerful when everything around you seems to be collapsing into itself.

Hope.

Spes in Latin.

La Esperanza in Spanish.

L’espoir in French.

Die Hoffnung in German.

Xiwang in Chinese.

We all have a word for it. We all have a need for it, especially now and for oh, so many reasons.

We hope the virus passes us by. We hope the virus passes our family by. If it doesn’t, if it hasn’t, we hope for a positive outcome. If that does not appear, we hope for the strength to deal with our grief, and a deep-rooted empathy to help others deal with theirs.

We hope for enough PPE for the people who matter, the people so long taken for granted.

We hope for sanity in leadership, answers rather than excuses and no more passing of the proverbial buck.

It does stop there, no matter how one might rage at the darkness.

We hope — to have a job to return to, an economy to stabilize our lives, a continuing faith and family, family around us, close, closer than they’ve ever been before.

Hope.

We hope.

We all hope.

Don’t let the light of hope die in the embrace of despair.

Stay at it.

Hope.
